If you encounter the "UID SORT: Internal Error occurred. Refer to server log" message when logging into your mailbox using Roundcube webmail, it typically indicates an issue with email listing. This error can arise for two main reasons:
1. Exceeded Mailbox Disk Space Quota
When your mailbox disk space quota is exceeded, it can cause this error.
How to Check Your Mailbox Disk Usage:
- Navigate to Email -> Mailboxes.
- Click on your mailbox name.
- Check the Disk Space usage.
If the disk space quota is exceeded, you will see something like:
Disk Space: 10.0 GB (100%) of 10.0 GB used
Solution:
- Return to your list of email accounts.
- Click on the <...> button next to your mailbox under the Mailbox Limits column.
- Temporarily increase the mailbox disk quota.
- Log back into your mailbox and clean/delete some emails to free up space.
Alternative Solutions:
- Download messages using a mail client like Outlook or Thunderbird via POP3 (without keeping a copy on the server).
- Delete messages using an IMAP account with a mail client.
2. Exceeded Account Mail Storage Limit
Your account's overall mail storage limit may also cause this error.
How to Check Your Mail Storage Usage:
- Navigate to Account Usage -> Mail Storage.
Solution:
- Upgrade your mail storage plan to accommodate your needs.
If the mail storage is exceeded due to some mailboxes being unattended, please contact us. We can provide a list of the largest mailboxes and assist in deleting messages.
Additional Notes
- Deleting a mailbox from the Email Accounts section does not delete the mailbox directory. This is a fail-safe feature for your convenience.
- If you need a mailbox to be deleted completely, please submit a support ticket.
By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the "UID SORT: Internal Error" and ensure your email functionality in Roundcube webmail.
